Ultrasonic Inspection

Ultrasonic inspection contains the transmission of high frequency sound waves through the material under inspection & evaluating the reflected waves on a time delay oscilloscope. It’s extremely useful for the detection, evaluation and dimensioning of internal defects in all type of welds and general products.
 

Magnetic Particles Inspection

Magnetic particles inspection contains the cause of magnetic field, produced by an A.C. yoke magnet, which can detect superficial and sub-superficial discontinuities to the material under inspection.

Liquid Penetrant Inspection

Penetrating fluid control is used like the magnetic particle method, except that the method can also be used on non-ferromagnetic materials.

Portable Hardness Measurements

Hardness measurements inspection contains the rebound method for general products and the U.C.I. method for welds and plates. It is useful for the inspection of forged products such as crankshafts, camshafts, gears, etc. for the evaluation of hardness scale values after damage or for the material’s determination. In many cases can be performed on welding seams which have been heat treated.

Positive Material Identification (P.M.I.)

Positive material identification can be useful on the field for the identification of metal alloy composition without destroying the material. This can be performed by a portable XRF analyzer which emits radiation to the material under inspection. The material returns characteristic energy, element specific and information back to analyzer detector. The XRF analyzer involves a materials characteristics database which allows the qualitative and quantitative analysis performance. The only drawback of this method is the inability of C content measurements.

Replica – In situ Metallography

This non-destructive method is really useful for the determination of in-service degradation of critical components operating under high pressure / high temperature / corrosive atmosphere.

Radiographic Inspection

Radiographic inspection is used to reveal hidden flaws on inspected materials by using the ability of short wavelength electromagnetic radiation (high energy photons) to penetrate various materials. Either an X-Ray machine or a radioactive source can be used for this scope. Since the amount of radiation emerging from the opposite side of the material can be detected and measured, variations in this amount (or intensity) of radiation are used to determine thickness or composition of material.

This non-destructive method is very useful mostly for welding seams inspection and occasionally for any kind of mechanical component.

Vacuum Box Leak Testing

Vacuum Box Leak Testing is used to locate leaks in a pressure boundary that cannot be directly pressurized. This is accomplished by applying a solution to a local area of the pressure boundary surface and creating a differential pressure across that local area of the boundary causing the formation of bubbles as leakage gas passes through the solution. It’s very useful for the inspection of welding joints.
